Natarani brings to you the music from the dunes of Rajasthan. Sakar Khan Manganiyar and his troupe bring to you the magic of the Manganiyar Music.

The Manganiyars are a community of musicians who hail from the heart of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. Their repertoire includes ballads, and Sufi poems written by various mystics. They also have songs for various occasions like birth, marriage, death, festivals etc. Although regarded as a folk tradition, their music is quite complex in terms of variety, instrumentation and repertoire.

Their songs are passed on from generation to generation as a form of oral history of the desert. They sing songs about Alexander the Great, about the local Maharajas and past battles in the region. Manganiars have survived for centuries on the patronage of wealthy merchants in caravan towns, particularly Jaisalmer where there is an important settled community today.

The Manganiyars are truly the keepers of Rajasthani folk music and in the recent years have gained fame and critical acclaim all over the world, so come and enjoy the music of the dunes at Natarani.

In an intimate, raw format, narrating and embodying characters, weaving music and songs into the storytelling. Through an anthology of four original Gujarati stories and short write-ups, I bring to life the unnoticed stories of everyday people—individuals who carry small but profound desires, much like our own. These immersiven narratives, told in contemporary Gujarati, are not just stories—they are a mirror, a sigh of relief, and a journey back to yourself. One of the many meanings of `Arush` in Sanskrit is peace.
