A conjunction of the Moon and Venus

The Crescent Moon will make a close approach to Venus. Look for the pair above the western horizon at dusk.

In the western evening sky on Thursday, February 27, the young, crescent moon will make a lovely sight sitting a generous palm’s width to the left or 6 degrees to the celestial south of very bright Venus.

Viewed in a telescope, Venus will exhibit a gibbous phase.

Observe the soft glow of Earthshine on the darkened portion of the Moon.
