Since 1980, thirteen cycles of the Award have recognized projects that have demonstrated excellence in architecture, planning, historic preservation and landscape architecture. Since 1992, the Historic Cities Programme has developed and applied a distinctive integrated methodology to restore, rehabilitate and revitalise historic structures and public spaces and create assets that improve the quality of life for the people who live and work in these historic quarters.
