Kurula Varkey Design Forum is organized by the students of Faculty of Architecture (CEPT University, India); which has been a platform for critical discourse on architecture and architectural education since its conception in 2001, through student projects as take-off points for the discussion. In this event, we invite student thesis projects from around more than 100 Architecture schools from Asia, of which 15 to 20 projects are presented and discussed during the event which will be held on 16th, 17th and 18th of August 2019.

This year, the theme is Identity in Architecture. The Forum has enabled students of varied milieus from across the continent to be a part of a unique amalgamation of practitioners, academicians, young graduates and students. The Forum attempts at generating a dialogue to understand and identify the diverse directions in the discipline of Architecture. This year we received 115 entries, The theme was further divided into three sub-themes while screening the entries – namely ‘beyond shelter’, ‘responding to contextual identity through design’, and ‘rethinking type’, which will be further discussed during the forum.
