Sitar Maestro, Shujaat Khan is a 7th generation sitarist from Imdadkhani Gharana. A  keeper of the legacy of his father the legendary Ustaad Vilayat Khan,  he has taken the sitar and made it his own in a manner that is unique.

In this very special session of “Taleem’ at the India Music summit he explores his craft and its nuances.

He takes you on a journey, where he decodes, many facts surrounding Indian Classical music.

Taking examples from Popular songs to explain raagdaari and how even though notes are the same, the treatment differs,  he goes on to the fascinating subject of Shrutis and their role in Indian classical music.

Drawing different bandishes and explaining to an enthralled audience at the India Music Summit, Shujaat ends this session with a mesmerising Raag –  eliciting a standing ovation.

Shujaat Khan at his articulate best – Taleem is an unmissable session which is unique and magical.
