Alpavirama Asian Short & Documentary Film Festival at NID

The 4th edition of Alpavirama Asian Short & Documentary Film Festival (organised by the Film & Video discipline at NID) starts on 23rd October, 2018 at the Auditorium, in the Paldi campus of NID.

76 short fiction and documentary films from 18 Asian countries (including two recent feature length films done by NID Film & Video alumni) will be shown in Alpavirama 2018, spread over five days and five sections.

1. Asian Competition
2. Looking China (documentaries on Chinese culture, made by non-Chinese students from all over the world)
3. NID Film & Video Retrospective
4. Looking Back (Award winners from previous three editions of Alpavirama)
5. Feature flights (Recent feature films by NID Film & Video alumni)

On the last day, i.e., the 27th of October, 2018, there would be a Master Class on recording location sound in the morning AND a Seminar on the portrayal of the Elderly in Media in the afternoon.

This year’s Prof. Satish Bahadur Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contribution to Media Education in South Asia is being conferred on the famous photographer, educationist and social activist Dr Shahidul Alam from Bangladesh. An Exhibition of Dr Shahidul Alam’s selected photographs is also being organised with the active cooperation and participation of the Photography discipline at NID.
