Jihtrobhabho is a play adapted from Gujarati Folk-Lore famously known as “Jithrobhabho”.

Jithrobhabho is a popular character of Saurashtra region of Gujarat. This play talks about superstition prevail in society. In this play an old man has been misidentified as a dead man by his own people. Now the protagonist starts the fight against his own people to claim his life back. He tries all the possible ways but by one or the other way he has been misunderstood by the villagers which makes his life more difficult. People blind by their own beliefs and superstition are so much frightened that they don’t even wants to listen his name. This all forces Jithro to live in the outskirts of village.

For his livelihood, he tries to come in the front of women who used to carry food to the farm for their people. The fear of his name was so high that the women die by just seeing him in front of him. This becomes routine for Jithro that he kills people for food. But when he realizes that this not the right way he tries to convince the people of village that he is alive and this all is fuss created by themselves only.

This play reflects the mentality of people who are so blind in the superstition that they are not even ready to listen to that person. Attempts of Jithro to prove himself as a live man puts him in more trouble which creates humorous moments for the audience. This play is a Satire on Superstition and the struggle of a person to prove him right.
