SWAMAN – RISE WITH RESPECT EXHIBITION by Raksha
PHASES OF WOMEN

Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, and may we raise them.

Raksha brings her series of exhibition SWAMAN – Rise with Respect to the city of Ahmedabad to depict various issues ranging from Phases of Women to Equality in Society through their amazing art forms.

‘Swaman’ formed by the combination of two roots ‘Swa’ meaning self and ‘Maan’ meaning respect, literally translates to Self-Respect. Swaman means a lot of different things to different people but at
its very core, it is characterized by a spirited awareness & respect of one’s value and capabilities.

‘Swaman’ at its core believes in breaking of the artificial barriers of gender, race, caste, and creed by talking about it and talking about equality as a whole were not only men but female as equally
important and so is the other sexual orientation.
We start our journey with the issue that is closest to our heart and we have seen it face along the years we have grown up to that is PHASES OF WOMEN.

In our first art exhibition, we are trying to
depict how is it for a women to grow up in different phases from childhood to knowing periods from the first time to facing it hardly and managing studies in school to facing and sustaining harassment in teenage, reaching motherhood all this while living in constant fear of identifying who is right to be with and who is not. It is not just about the things which happen to women causing pain, but how
beautiful it is to celebrate womanhood together and have a safe place to talk about that.

What a better way can be for us then to put it in the form of art. In our first exhibition, you would see the amalgamation of different art forms depicting the PHASES OF WOMEN like Digital Art, Paintings, montages, and multiple artists – all of who will collaborate to create awareness on these pressing issues of our time through their art.
