We will host his dance company AVS road company, France for two weeks dance residency at Sangati centre for performing arts, Ahmedabad. Join us for their Indo- French dance duet ‘Book of Love’ and screening of award-winning film ‘The table with the dogs – Kathakali’ on Sunday, 15th Oct. 2017, at 6:30 p.m. About the Evening : “The book of love” is a duet performed by Capucine Goust, French contemporary dancer and A Kottakkal Unnikrishnan, Kathakali dancer. It is based on the poem of “Tiruvalluvar” and on dialogues from the French film “La chose” published by Mathieu Amalric.The performance presents several stages of love relationship. This is a work in progress. ‘The table with the dogs – Kathakali’ is a remarkable documentary that allows us to be the witness of one of the last places where this form of theatre is taught in its purest tradition. Instead of solely didactic description of what Kathakali is, the film is leading the viewers on a sensorial and a typical journey, that can also be perceived as a hypnotic experience at times. DIRECTION : Cédric Martinelli and Julien Touati EDITING : Jean-Marie Carrel SOUND : Guillaume Solignat About the Artist : Julien Touati, trained comedian, discovers Kathakali in 2004 becoming passionated about this sacred art, he takes then several years of training at Kottakkal in Kerala. In 2009, following the idea of introduction the experience to stage contemporary forms, Julien establishes his own company AVS Road creating a number of projects such as And I want, Anywhere I lay my head and The book of love.. In 2010, he co-directs a documentary film The table with the dogs – Kathakali, Immaterial Cultural Heritage Award at Festival Jean Rouch, also selected in many international festivals. Capucine Goust, Since graduating from the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Lyon in 2008, she has collaborated with some of the renowned choreographers of Europe and danced in several operas at the Opera de Lyon with choreographer Marie Chouinard. Also, Capucine develops her own choreographic research with Tselem in 2015, and the performance Portrait in art gallery Dominique Fiat in Paris. Kottakkal A. Unnikrishnan was formed to Kathakali dance at Kottakkal school in Kerala. He is a permanent member of the PSV Natyasangham troupe and teaches Kathakali and regularly performs at the intertional venues.
