The renowned Kathak dancers, Maulik Shah and Ishira Parikh, stand apart as foremost classical dancers of India, not only for their exceptional command and authority over their medium but also for their innovative approach to presentation. They embody the new spirit in the field of Indian classical dance, showcasing their creative excellence not just as dancers but also as choreographers. Their choreographic endeavours reflect a synthesis of the highest level of sensitivity and intelligence, attracting newer and larger audiences to Kathak dance through their productions.

In recognition of their outstanding contribution to Kathak Dance, the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, has honoured them with the prestigious “Akademi Puraskar.” Maulik and Ishira have also been designated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). The Central Production Center (CPC), New Delhi, has recorded their production “Roopmati Baz Bahadur” for nationwide telecast. They have performed in more than 40 countries and have received numerous prestigious awards such as the ‘Gaurav Puruskaar,’ among others.
