Today’s woman is no different. So, this International Women’s Day, Sunday Secret Sessions (SSS) is proud to present Bravo Women—a celebration of women, especially in the arts, focusing on the themes of unity and love—in keeping with the UN’s campaign theme of #BalanceforBetter, a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world. Created and promoted by SSS, to be held at the Institute of Design Expression Art & Learning (IDEAL)—both led by women, incidentally—Bravo Women is women tipping their hats to each other, for everything they’ve accomplished in a male-dominated world. From sponsoring to promoting and entertaining, Bravo Women is proof that great things happen when strong women come together. It’s also a nod to the men who support women and acknowledge their varied achievements. The event will feature performances by some of Ahmedabad’s many impressive women in music and dance and give people the chance to meet and interact with women authors, artists, poets and entrepreneurs. Bravo Women will also felicitate about 30 women for their consistent support and contributions towards Ahmedabad’s music scene. It also calls itself an “underground community” of musicians (and music lovers) dedicated to art for art’s sake (or music for music’s sake) and focuses on community-building by garnering support for local artists. Bravo Women is the latest first-of-its-kind event from SSS, which has previously large-scale events such as the Spirit of Woodstock in August 2018, and World Music Day #Rockout in June 2018 and music education expo aMUSEd in January 2018. The next year, the International Socialist Woman’s Conference suggested that Women’s Day be held annually. It was adopted by the UN in 1975, under the name International Women’s Day.
