The NID run is an annual event that takes place during the start of the year, this being the second year. It is a joint initiative between the administration and the student council. The run aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle among students and staff alike. This year we want the run to celebrate the rich heritage of Ahmedabad and since it is taking place at the riverfront, the logo represents the unique architecture of the Ellis Bridge which was the first bridge constructed over the Sabarmati River. The distance we are planning to cover during this year’s run is eight kilometres. It starts under Sardar Bridge, goes till the Usmanpura U-turn near the Riverfront Park and then turns back. We are aiming at maximum participation from our community and a healthy competition. The winners have been categorised into four classes: men, women, staff below forty years and staff above forty years. The winners shall be awarded with a gold medal and a cash prize of rupees four thousand each. The runners up will be awarded with a silver medal and a cash prize of rupees two thousand each. Through this, we hope to give our community the opportunity to increase their stamina and live an active and healthy life.

The performance is a montage drawing from medical neuroscience, mythologies, personal testimonies of love and loss questioning conformance, gender identities, social theories, drawing from Dr Jill Bolte`s book, Macbeth, Nordic Fork Tales and my relationship with a friend who died last year – it employs a range of methodologies – Kalari, storytelling, movement, music and other performative techniques.
