About the Nooran Sisters:

Mystical and legendary folk tales are put to music by the Nooran Sisters. Born into a family of musicians, Jyoti and Sultana Nooran are the granddaughters of the late Bibi Nooran, a very popular Sufi singer in the 1970s. Their father, Ustad Gulshan Meer, son of the famous late Ustad Sohan Lal, is not only their guru but often also performs with them in concert! The sisters were spotted on the TV Show ‘Nikki Awaz Punjab Di’ and soon their popularity mushroomed, getting them performances of Punjabi Sufi music not just in India but across the world.

In 2012, The Nooran Sisters featured on the song ‘Allah Hoo’ on Coke Studio, which led to their singing ‘Pataka Guddi’ for A.R. Rahman on the ‘Highway’ soundtrack in 2014, which exploded them on the national scene. Based in Jalandhar, the Nooran Sisters continue to grow in popularity with their traditional Sufi songs that come straight from the soil.
