We, at IFC – CEE, are bringing a dramatics workshop not just for the budding thespians but also for all the children looking to develop an attitude which comes hand in hand with performing theatre. This is exactly what we want young children to think as they shall together work on current environmental issues to capture it in a story and bring it live on stage. Theatre arts and drama are dying rapidly, the participants will be taught about aesthetic appreciation and the importance of the ancient art form that drama is. What most people do not realise is that theatres have numerous benefits other than just improving acting skills. To begin with, performing on stage will urge the kid to be confident and throw away his shyness or stage fear. This is a great way to build their self-esteem and inculcate in them seeds of a healthy self-image. Many children face a problem in expressing themselves and theatres are the best place for them as it gives them a platform to open up and be socially active. Being able to represent oneself is a must to stand out and for that one needs fluent vocal skills. Performing drama is a great way to enhance public speaking skills and achieve clarity in speaking. Another perk of performing on stage is that as they are required to remember each dialogue, it boosts the memory too. Each character when put together forms a successful drama. This shall teach the kids the importance of team work and cooperating with peers. In spite of that, just the way a drama is incomplete in absence of a single character, the child shall understand individuality persists even in a team and provide him with a platform to grow individually as well. The crux of an act is the story and the script. In this workshop, the children shall awaken themselves their creative cells to form a story. They shall first deeply understand the threats to environment and innovatively turn it into a story to spread awareness. This would help them in enhancing their vocabulary as well as script writing skills. The children learn to empathise with their roles and it helps them to understand how to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. Bring your kids in to give them an experience of fun mingled with discipline and a lifetime of learning. Every year IFC conducts a Summer Programme for children. The theme of the summer programme been decided accordingly as UNEP ( United Nations Environment Programme ) announces for the world environment day.
