2017-08-26 10:30:00 2017-08-26 17:00:00 Asia/Kolkata Voices Within The Wall

The two-day workshop ‘Voices within the Wall’ looks at documenting the walled city and its heritage through voice recordings and conversations. All in an attempt to create a sound installation, the documentation will explore questions of ‘belonging’ and ‘conservation’.

Though the recent world heritage status has put the walled city of Ahmedabad on the global heritage map, some of the key questions to be explored is ‘Whose’ heritage are we talking about and ‘What does heritage mean’ beyond an institutional level. We hope this workshop transcends beyond a documentation to an artistic expression.

Workshop itenary:
The workshop will be for 2 intensive days.
26th August : Meet at Siddi Saiyed Mosque for an orientation at 10.30 am. A day-long site documentation with intermittent reviews.
27th August: Meet at Conflictorium at 10:30 am. Review the collected voice recordings and data. Workshop on creating Sound Installation.

Workshop charges : INR 500

Please note that this sound installation will be further developed for an exhibition, at the Conflictorium that will be open to public from September 9.
