A mosaic is a piece of art or image made from the assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. It is often used in decorative art or as interior decoration. Most mosaics are made of small, flat, roughly square, pieces of stone or glass of different colors, known as tesserae. Join hands with Compartment S4 this winter amidst the Sahyadri hills in a quaint village called Khadki, Gujarat. Hand-made is an opportunity to engage with the people and building practices of the rural community of Khadki. It is a hands on experience in building a multi-functional space and play area. Khadki is a village in the Sahyadri hills, on the fringe of Gujarat and Maharashtra with vast green landscapes and a river on its edge. Our aim is to involve participants in experimenting with local materials and techniques towards a sustainable building practice and to engage in promoting local craft. The workshop is open to all professional.
