Watercolor painting is one of the oldest forms of painting. They are fun, cost-effective and provide ample possibilities for creative self-expression. Watercolors are water-based and non-toxic paints, therefore makes a perfect medium to teach painting to children. If you are a beginner or want to learn some creative art, watercolor paintings are a great starting point.

What we will cover:  You will make a watercolor composition of landscape, which will stage a sunny day that will later become cloudy.

Who is it for?

For illustrators, artists and all those people interested in telling stories from the painting of the landscape.

What you need:

-No previous experience is required, although knowing how to paint or draw will help you achieve a better result.

-Materials: Watercolor paper, watercolor pigments – they can be in tubes or tablets, mixing palette, brushes, water container and a desk

About the Mentor: NB Gurung

NB Gurung is a well known artist of Nepal. Though most of his works are in watercolor, he has a body of work in acrylic and oils also. Abstracts, landscapes, cityscape and portraits are his master subjects. His paintings depict the infinite color shades that nature holds.  The most exciting factor in his art is the immediacy of the medium and the way the color responds on the paper to his personal emotions.

Gurung finds watercolor medium as his unique way to present his visual stories by regularly experimenting and constantly pushing the boundaries of what watercolor can do. His colors move, dance and vibrate creating light-filled patches and richly colored transparent darks. His rapidly executed strokes thrill the viewer with its spontaneity, energy and sheer boldness. What may appear as simple execution bears all the complexities of sensitivity.

He has received several national and international awards among which Best Watercolorist/India, Second prize in East-West Watercolor Society/USA, Regional talent awards/Government of Nepal, Hemganga, Youth Talent award and more.

Outcome: Participants will have better understanding about techniques of watercolor
