Japanese paper cutting is called Kirie or Kirigami (literally meaning cut picture). It is said to have developed after 610 AD when Tesuki Washi paper, invented in China, was brought to Japan by Doncho, a Buddhist monk from Korea. The Japanese commercialised papermaking by hand and by 800 AD their skills were unrivalled.

2: Learning various paper cutting techniques
3: Practical sessions
4: Preservation techniques
5: Tips and tricks session
6: Final product

All the material will be provided in the workshop.
FINAL PRODUCT: An A5 sheet with highly details patterns and motifs.

Registration fees: INR 1500 including materials

On the occasion of Janmashtami L.D. Museum & N.C. Mehta Gallery invites you for Workshop on ‘Traditional Nathdwara Style of Painting’ to be conducted by Mrs. Vaidehi Shah (an Ahmedabad based artist who has been practicing miniature paintings and Pichwai paintings on cloth as well as paper since last 36 years) The workshop will commence at the above mentioned time, starting with a very brief talk on Nathdwara school of painting.
