Sohaila Kapur’s online workshop has been designed to focus on identity and performance skills. The mind, body, and voice will be honed to produce the complete actor, who is able to get under the skin of any character, anytime, anywhere, in any medium.

Sohaila Kapur is a reputed writer, playwright, actor,  director, and acting coach.  Performance comes naturally to her as she comes from one of the established families of Bollywood, the Anands.  Filmfare Award winners Dev and Vijay Anand and Cannes award Chetan Anand were her uncles (mother’s brothers), while  Oscar & Bafta-nominated film director, Shekhar Kapur,  is her older brother.  Amongst the younger generation, Purab Kohli  (Rock On, Jal) is her nephew.

 

As an actor, Sohaila has worked with some of television’s and Bollywood’s top talents in approximately 20 television serials, including ones directed by Chetan Anand, Shyam Benegal, M.S. Sathyu, Parikshit Sahni, Satish Kaushik, Chandita Mukerjee, Mohena Singh and Jalal Agha; a national award-winning feature film  (Govind Nihalani’s Rukmavati Ki Haveli) and an equal number of theatrical productions, where she has worked with directors  Amal Allana, Veenapani Chawla, Nadira Babbar, Tom Alter, Feizal Alkazi, and Arun Kuckreja and actors Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Tom Alter, Nandita Das, Raj Zutshi, Sudhir Pandey, Ila Arun, Sanjana Kapoor, Sushmita Mukerjee, Javed Jafri and Satish Kaushik.

As a Theatre Director, Sohaila has directed around 40 plays,  with distinguished Delhi-based actors like Zohra Sehgal, Sunit Tandon, and Danish Husain. She directed `Rumi: Unveil The Sun’, which got critical and popular acclaim (12 nominations in  META)and was invited to perform in the U.K. She has coordinated and directed a series of dramatized readings of post Independence playwrights, which was hosted by the India Habitat Centre from July 2019 to Feb 2020, till the lockdown was declared. Selections from the readings are now going online. She has also directed three short feature films, Parinday (shot in Tihar), Anubhuti & Mulaquat.

Indigo Innovators We are pleased to announce our summer children’s workshop at the Arvind Indigo Museum. We invite our young viewers to participate in a sensory and creative exploration of the indigo dye though the artworks of the collection. The workshop will have an educational aspect for the children to learn about shapes, textures, colours and the idea of artmaking as well. They will also learn about the significance of the indigo pigment and will understand the importance of art in a historical context. The workshop is modelled on the idea of learning through play where the children will participate in a host of activities like recognition of shapes & colours, making collages, puzzles, cutouts and creating their own indigo themed artworks. We are organising two sessions of the same workshop. The content of the workshop in both the sessions is the same, so in case you are not able to register for the first session, you can so do for the second. Seats are limited to 15 children for each session of the workshop.
