Field Workshop on Wildlife Ecology

This field workshop is perfect for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers who want to learn wildlife conservation science. This workshop is open for all, you only require enthusiasm for wilderness and the outdoors!

This workshop will help you understand the biological basis of management of wildlife habitats and populations. You will gain first hand experience of studying wildlife, their behaviors, their habitats, and threats. Activities will include forest exploration, wildlife watching, scientific data collection, nature photography, interactive discussions, and having a lot of fun.

The workshop will be held in the dry deciduous hill-forest of Tikhimagari (Gova hills), a pristine habitat in the Aravalli range in Sabarkantha (Gujarat). We will explore various ecological niches of the forest by trekking on several trails, during day and night. The forest is home to over 148 species of birds, over 15 species of mammals, over 30 species of herps, and many invertebrates. We will stay in Adam’s Nature Retreat – a responsible campsite with all basic facilities. Accommodation will be on shared basis in dormitories with attached bathroom and toilet.

Soham Mukherjee – herpetologist and wildlife biologist (member, IUCN SSC Viper Specialist Group & Crocodile Specialist Group) will run the workshop.

This is inclusive of stay, food, resource person fee, field guide fee, and transport from and back to Ahmedabad. We will travel on the early morning of 20th Oct, and return on the evening of 21st Oct.
