What’s to look forward to this week in Charlotte? American jazz singer Jeremy Davenport and iconic comedian Louie Anderson come to Charlotte, along with two engaging film festivals.
This week, local creators from Charlotte have brought out an excellent concert with trumpeter Jeremy Davenport on the music of Frank Sinatra. Iconic comedian Louie Anderson, and Indian classical music virtuosos Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and Aditya Kalyanpur, will take the stage elsewhere this week. Or you can opt for a leisurely evening spent painting art while sipping wine. Two film festivals take to the city, one centred on the theme of mountains, and the other on Asian films. There is also a ballet performance, dance performances by students of UNC and an art workshop for children. Take your family to these events and support these incredibly talented artists!
This week, we’ve drawn our creative inspiration from Michael Houser, lead guitarist of the band Widespread Panic, who was popularly called Mikey. The band often shared songwriting credits with him as he hugely contributed towards drafting iconic songs like Airplane, The Waker, Impossible, Vacation and others. Featured in 4 live albums with the band, his 16-year long musical journey was captured in chords through his single albums Door Harp and Sandbox. The stirring sound of his strings will forever reverberate in the ears of his fans.
