On a creative note, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has stated to distribute Shagun Kits to newlywed couples in the state. The Shagun Kit is a package that includes condoms, oral and emergency contraceptives, Family Planning literature to help couples plan, handkerchief, nail cutter, mirror-comb set and towels. The one of a kind initiative will help the government to break the taboo of sex education in the state and promote the idea of hygiene, cleanliness and family planning amongst locals.
Shagun kit will be launched on July 11, which happens to be the World Population Day under the Mission Parivar Vikas Scheme, a national movement to control the total fertility rate in seven states of India.
