The Illustrated Chronicles of Ramayana on Your Postal Stamps Now!

“Rama has appeared on many postal stamps till now, but this one-of-a-kind stamp of Ramayana depicts many different facets of his life,” announced Prime Minister Narendra Modi while inaugurating the Ramayana Stamp in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on September 22, 2017.

It is said that pundit-philosopher Goswami Tulsidasji drafted Ramcharitmanas, the famous Hindu epic on the life of Lord Rama, at the Tulsi Manas Mandir. This is why PM Modi decided not to inaugurate the stamp at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, or at his residence but, instead, “at the destination where memories of the poet-sage are still breathing.”

The release of this postal stamp by India Post can be seen as an indirect move towards propagating the agenda of Ayodhya Ram Mandir. On the affirmative side, however, it is evidence to the preservation of the heritage of India Post, which was founded around 180 years ago, in an era much before the present epoch of emails and internet.
