The Primordial Currents art exhibition at Amdavad Ni Gufa has created a wormhole that straightaway leads its viewers to MS University Baroda. The contrast in patterns, the striving nature of their artworks, it all stands out of the crowd and roars its affiliation to the Baroda School. Coming from a young group, mostly first timers, the display has praiseworthy thought and depth in it.
Inaugurated in the dignified presence of art entrepreneur Anil Relia on October 25, 2017, the exhibition is a collective effort by curator Sanaa Kochar and Moobin Mansoori who shares, “All six of friends with whom we have studied at MSU are featuring their creativity formally for the first time, except Krishna Arya. And all they have used here are the traditional methods of paintings, no prints or litho involved.” Moobin, is son of popular painter Nabibakhsh Mansoori and is also one of the participant of the group show. October 25th, being the 136th Birth Anniversary of the Espanola painter, Pablo Picasso turned to be an apt time for these promising talent to inaugurate their maiden display.
Though kept at the edge of the gallery, Nagajan Karavadara’s 12.5ft x 4ft colossal oil and poster colour on canvas catches all the eyeballs at first glance itself; whereas Mansoor Mansoori’s perspective of reflecting childhood, dreams, memories and contradiction in his nine paintings makes poetry altogether. Krishna Arya, who was the senior most painter amongst the budding ones shared, “I wanted to juxtapose Tantra and Shaivism through charcoal and wood to keep the rawness of its subject intact.” Priya Dave who became an artist after completing her formal studies from science stream showcased here academic elements interconnecting with creativity, whereas Yogi Rajput showcased a variety of imagination through his creative human forms. Enna Kathrecha who was a featured artist from Mumbai displayed aspects of minimalism in her creations.
Watching the 27 artworks will not only help the audience to create an exceptional perspective towards creativity but will also give these budding artist a dollop of motivation. The show is open for connoisseurs until October 29, 2017. The show is a good opportunity to peep into the minds of the young aesthete’s from Baroda.
