The melodious memoirs of Shehnai exponent Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan will soon be echoing in the heritage city of Ahmedabad. Ministry of Culture, India has come up with ‘Yaad-E-Bismillah’ show where Padma Shri Dr Soma Ghosh and National Award Winning director Subhankar Ghosh will revive the charm of the Shehnai Legend.
The musical evening has been scheduled on March 04, 2017 at a prestigious venue in Ahmedabad. Dr Ghosh, who was invited by Ustad himself for a ‘jugalbandi’ in 2001, has been as close as a family member to Ustad. The duo will carry forward the Shehnai legacy of Ustad and exemplify it as a docudrama on the Guru-Shishya Parampara. During the press conference on February 18, 2017, Dr. Ghosh narrated about Ustad in these words, “Baba has always believed in making music a bridge that can reach and fill in the gaps. His belief of Universal Religion and bringing peace to the world through music was clearly visible even in his daily life activities.” She spoke about many aspects of Ustad like how he use to wake up at four in the morning to play Shehnai in the nearby temple. The event is going to be grandeur, and every Ahmedabadi should take this opportunity of experiencing Ustadsaab’s legacy in his centennial celebrations.
