Gujarat Photo Festival 2016
Gujarat Photo Festival, now in its second edition, is an annual event where photographers and artists alike celebrate photography as an art form. Practitioners of Photography in Gujarat have been one of the pioneers in accepting photography as a medium of choice for visual documentation. Gujarati Photographers can also pride in having one of the earliest photography clubs in India (Niharika). Visual documentation of Gujarat State by gujarati image makers date back to early 20th century.
GPF is an event for everyone to celebrate and enjoy an art form that now transcends through generations and empowers everyone in documenting the world the way they see it. We are most visually documented generation in the history of human kind, which makes any visual documentation of the world even more important.
This year the festival, pays tribute to stalwart, Late Shri Kishor Parekh, a renowned photographer from Bhavnagar, Gujarat, whose work has re-defined photo-journalism. Kishor Parekh, an artist, full of life and emotions lives in hearts and minds of his peers and thousands of photo-artists world over.
That apart every important gallery of the city shall showcase a variety of works from different photographers as part of this festival.
As part of the festival, book launches and workshops are also scheduled to give audiences a complete experience of Photography as an art form.
