The Aerial Route

“As a 12-year-old inquisitive child, dad always took me to summer camps, where we explored the tip of hillocks and drooled within the deepest ditches. Every excursion was having one thing in common, the blue-bearded bee-eater pairs flying right above our head and leaving us with an unsung wondering, what would be their life goals? I personally believed that we as humans always channelize our existence through career, academics or migrating to a developed nation. But birds, these beautiful creatures eat, love, grow their families or migrate for again a better eating and a family. How cool isn’t it?”

The above expression is what could possibly summarise Mayank Ghedia’s instinct to try his card as a wildlife photographer. Professionally involved in Architecture, Mayank has been practicing his niche in urbanized areas of Ahmedabad since 1992. But, his inner Tarzan, sophisticatedly equipped with the best of lenses and camera, always tempted him to en route for forest and its creatures. As a passionate expressionist he often delves into sketching and painting. However watching a Bird is the greatest joy the world can offer to him, and that is what shows in the Photo Studio.

 

‘The Aerial Route’ album has imbibed the essence of nature as its integral aesthetic. To capture birds a photographer needs ample amount of patience and precision. The subjects are live and extremely sensitive to motion in external elements, which directly results in a rapid reflex and a blurry image. To be an apt bird-gazer one needs a minute exposure to ornithology too. It helps in knowing more at what you are gazing and within this album one can clearly predict the photographer’s subject knowledge. Fascinated with these chirping creatures Mayank has successfully captured some of the rarest birds found in Gujarat.
