Veteran Actor, Filmmaker and Politician Vinod Khanna passed away today morning after his struggle with Cancer. Khanna in his hey days, was extremely popular and enjoyed an enviable fan following. He has won Two FilmFare Awards for his work in Hindi Films. It is believed that he is the only actor to have come close to the popularity of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.
Khanna started his acting career in 1968, and he will be eternally remembered for his flawless performances in movies like Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Kuchhe Dhaage, Amar Akbar Anthony, Dayavan, and many other Hindi films. Khanna shocked the entire fraternity, when, at the peak of his popularity he renounced his career and became a Sanyasi. Khanna came back to public life, after few years and kept taking up acting assignments till the end of his life.
Khanna also took part in active politics and has earlier served as Union Minister of Culture and Tourism under the BJP Government. He is survived by wife Kavita Khanna and his four children Rahul, Akshaye, Sakshi and Shraddha Khanna.
