Natarani Theatre & Alliance Francaised’Ahmedabad are bringing an innovative and contemporary piece which is inspired by a ritual from Kerala. Kalam/Terre is an organic and eloquent performance of Kalam Ezhuttu which will be magnified by filmed images of bodies mutating, a strange memory of plant life and animal life.
Written and directed by Navaldeep Singh, Javeda is an unforgettable and heart-warming play that narrates a love story set between the time of the infamous Hindu-Muslim riots of 1992-93. For a more educational escapade, we have two interesting talks lined up for you. Providing a glimpse into the Hollywood, Nazneen Contractor and Carlo Rota will be conversing on the scenario of international film industries and their experience of working in Hollywood at the talk session called Meet the Actors. And taping into the realm of art myths, Indrapramit Roy, an eminent painter and illustrator, will debunk the misconceptions people have regarding art while conveying his perception of art.
Born in the city of Nadiad, Vithalbhai Patel was an Indian legislator and political leader who co-found the Swaraj Party. He was the elder brother of SardarVallabhbhai Patel and was revered for his oratorical and wit. He became the President of Central Legislative Assembly in 1925 and had worked immensely for extending primary education to municipal districts in the Bombay presidency and improving medical practices in the country.
For his contributions to our freedom struggle and virtues that guided freedom fighters, we salute him and dedicate our 240th edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly to his legacy.
