The 231st edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly pays tribute to the stalwart of India’s legal fraternity, Prafullachandra Natwarlal Bhagwati. He was the 17th Chief Justice of India and is known for his notable contributions towards judicial activism in India. He introduced the concepts of public interest litigation – which has been an important instrument for social activism across the country. He was also the Chairman of the United Nations Human Rights Committee from 2001-03. His accomplishments and contributions to the judiciary system earned him a Padma Vibhushan for public affairs in 2007.
