CEPT Summer Exhibition is trying to make the scorching heat of Amdavad a little bearable by featuring a compilation of photography contest, musical concert and architectural workshops. Experienced artists of the city are showcasing some fascinating glimpses, sculptures, paintings and graphics at the recently opened ‘Show’. The poster of Devanshi Kanani’s solo show ‘Leela’ opening this week seems quite artistic, you can explore a Yatra there!

The screening of Katell Quillévéré’s French drama Suzanne is a family tale and a love affair that has already garnered the César Award. This week also marks the birth centennial anniversary year of Padma Bhushan laureate Dr.Dhirubhai Thaker, who founded the Vishwakosh Trust in 1985.Authorities are inviting dignitaries to revere his lifework and to conduct various discourses. Actors Esha Kansara and Aarjav Trivedi are coming to talk aspects of acting in Gujarati films, theatre and television.

Savour some toothsome pizzas and tuneful jazz during an exclusive concert of Meera Desai and Shankar Iyer or relish the folklores of Gujarat in the dramatic play of Jithro Bhabho. Empathise with the struggles of an aspiring actor in Mumbai through the drama मसाज or attend The Cafe Comedy Show that provides young comedians with a platform to explore humour in more than six genres – stand-up, live sketch, slapstick, parody musical skit and Improv.

Daughter of illustrious parents – Ramanbhai Nilkanth and Vidyagauri Nilkanth, educationist Sarojini Mehta, followed her lineage to serve as a social reformist and writer in Ahmedabad. Mehta, the inspiration for our 210^th Ahmedabad Art Weekly, after graduating in 1919 and learning sociology from the London School of Economics in 1923, worked as a superintendent at the Vanita Vishram. Her stirring short story anthologies namely Ekadashi, Char Patharani Ma and Valata Pani raised pertinent questions on subjects like child marriage, family and the stature of women in society. Mehta is revered as a gem in the Gujarati literary fraternity.
