This week has been a quiet hell of a roller coaster ride, changing currency denominations in India, changing presidents in the United States of America, and changing shapes of Toblerone. But one thing that has not changed is our consistency of delivering the best of the enriching events held in the city of Ahmedabad. Education is just a mere support system to channelize your thought, and poet Abdulgani Dahiwala, who prolonged his studies till only 3rd standard while becoming tailor for a living is the aptest example for the above sentence. A well-known name in the Gujarat Gazal society Dahiwala is the founding member of Mahagujarat Gazal Mandal in 1942. Hailing from Surat, Dahiwala wrote some of the best satirical poetry in Gujarat Mail Daily for a long time and traveled even to Pakistan to know their culture. His work like Gata Zarana, Mahek, Madhurap, Ganimat, and Nirant are still preserved by many poetry lovers. AAW 82 pays tribute to the perceptive poet.
