This week was supposed to be the Navratri fever week, but it turned out to be a late night folk rain dance festivity. Somehow, this  gives a new hope to people, who are celebrating this festival by getting involved into different creative activities. Travellers flock in Ahmedabad for Navratri, but that is at night, for daydreamers, the Ahmedabad Art Weekly 79 gives a window of enrichment with international film screenings, innovative art exhibitions, heart throbbing poetry recitals, exciting book launch and unique adventure and travelling opportunities.

Poets are the dedicated theme for this week’s Ahmedabad Art Weekly and Amrut Ghayal is the honoured poet for inspiring this week’s audience. Amrut Laljee Bhatt was known by his pen name Amrut Ghayal, Ghayal which literally means wounded, was a Rajkot based Gujarati poet and gazalkar. The Kalapi Award-winning poet, who has been a scholar of Urdu and Persian poetry has written some of the most amazing literary till date. Poems like  Jusso (Morale), Jom (Spirit), Mijaj (attitude or style) have left a permanent impression upon audiences’ mind. A public work’s department employee, who had a niche in connecting with people’s emotions, Amrut’s work has a deeper meaning engraved growing above thoughts, words, voice and emotions.
