Ahmedabad Art Weekly recently completed its Diamond jubilee and we are more than happy to announce our 76^th Ahmedabad Art Weekly this time. Within all these weeks team Creative Yatra was constantly engaged with most of the creative happenings of the city and, we realized that Ahmedabad has a huge non-mainstream genre still unexplored. Uncharted Recitalists from varied creative genres like music, art, literature, theater, stand-up comedy and photography are constantly looking for great opportunities which can attract more and more eyes and ears for their creations. The history of theatricals in India drags us to the 1^st century when India’s first Sanskrit Theatre was formed. Previously fiction, as well as non-fiction fables, were amongst the most favored genre of Plays and today we all see movies, which are the upgraded version of the age-old dramas. This time, we are going to talk about the Padma Shri awardee stage actor, director, and producer of Gujarati Cinema, Shree Upendra Jethalal Trivedi. With an extremely humble background, Upendra hailed from a small town called Idar in Gujarat and has seen a lot of hardships in his early career. But with his dedication and a strong will to thrive in the performing arts field, Upendra directed some of the most fabulous Gujarati movies like Manvini Bhavai and Jher toh Peedhan Jani Jani. He also paired with prolific actors of the industry like Naresh Kanodia and Snehlata and enacted seven different roles in a Gujarati play, Abhinay Samrat. We are proud to feature Upendra Bhai and his inexhaustible energy in strengthening Gujarati Cinema in this week’s AAW.
