With the commencement of the 8^th Month of the year, the torch of Rio 2016 Olympic Games has reached its destination. The game will commence from 5^th of August and Creative Yatra is wishing luck to every participating athlete. The 70^th Ahmedabad Art Weekly is out now and the citizens of Ahmedabad are ready to experience the overflow of creativity. With evenings full of musical concerts, this week also has some amazing movie screenings across the city.  Visual art exhibitions, open-mic nights, theatrical performances and talk shows are also a part of the week’s culture quiver.

This week’s Ahmedabad Art Weekly gratitude is devoted to the writer, educationist, politician and activist Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi. Born in the town of Bharuch in Gujarat, Munshiji was a prolific writer in Gujarati and English language. Successfully wrote more than 20 novels, 3 dramas, and various other literary, Munshiji’s ideology was heavily influenced by Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Bhulabhai Desai and Maharaja Sayaji Rao Gaikwad. His contribution as a freedom fighter during the Quit India movement is still remembered and he was arrested several times during the British Raj for his thought provoking statements. His pristine belief of secularism and supporting ‘Akhand Hindustan’, where India would stay undivided created a revolution in India’s independence history.

We at Creative Yatra respect the history as Theodore Roosevelt rightly quoted, ‘The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future’.
