In AAW 53 we feature the legendary revolutionary poet and freedom fighter Zaverchand Meghani. His literary breadth ranged from soul stirring ‘Kasumbi no rang..’ to foot tapping ‘Mor bani thangat kare…’. He was referred to as ‘Rashtirya Shayar’ (National Poet) by Mahatma Gandhi. The greatest work of his life, is the huge effort he put in to compile and present the folklores of Saurashtra, Gujarat. If it weren’t for his efforts, lot of legends and folklores would have never reached the generation beyond him.
