AAW #112

The 112th Ahmedabad Art Weekly lists some of Ahmedabad’s most enriching events including art exhibitions, literature gatherings, theatrical performances, music concerts, and everything that one requires to spark their creativity. But with this AAW we also pay a respectful tribute to the victims of ghastly terror events occurring across the globe. People are losing their loved ones but are still not losing their spirit, hope and strength to survive. These events we enlist, are occurrences where individuals are involved in oneness, and here they empathise towards the art and not just the subject. So grab this opportunity of appreciating each other either in the form of an audience or a performer.

The 112th edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly is a tribute to late poet Dayaram, a great poet from medieval era of Gujarati literature. His religious poems are considered to be revolutionary in reshaping the Bhakti movement, and his devotional works are compared to legendary writers like Mirabai and Narsinh Mehta. The 17th-century poet was born near the shores of Narmada River and his narrative poems like Rukmani Vivah, Satyabhama Vivah, Ajamilakhyana, Okhaharan and other prose and poems. He has written 87 books, but some believe that he is responsible for over 1.5 lakh literary creations. The great writer will always be remembered for his contribution to Gujarati Literature.
