Month of March, took away another precious gem (after Tarak Mehta) from the field of Gujarati literature – poet, play wright and novelist Chinu Modi. Creative Yatra pays tribute to this excellent penman through the 102nd edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly. Modi who was an amazing playwright, poet and writer have written few beautiful works including plays like Aurangzeb and Ashwamedh which are still considered as some of the best creations ever made in Gujarati literature. Modi’s poems, Gazals and his initiative of mentoring the young poets through his Hotel Poetry Club, Shani Sabha and similar forums gives him a special place among the litterati. Modi has been honoured with various accolades so far including the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi award and Narsinh Mehta award for his tremendous work. And even though Modi has left for his heavenly abode, his voice will forever echo amongst us through his poems.
