Tanmay Shah an Ahmedabad based Film maker has under his belt, a unique feat of publishing a zero budget film every week, continuously for 52 weeks. The feat achieved in 2015 has already helped him bag a berth in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records, winning the “Most Zero Budget Films in a Calendar Year” title.
He is in the news again for making it to the Limca Book of Records, for making 52 zero budget films in 52 weeks. Limca Book of Records is an India equivalent of Guiness Book of World Records, and it recognises unique achievements.
Tanmay, who runs a creative film startup ‘Friday Fiction Films’ , spoke with CY correspondent about his one-man-army journey in these words, “I initiated my shooting in Mumbai, but the authorities weren’t supportive towards my vision, which eventually caused problems while shooting without a police permission. Since I belong to Ahmedabad, I shifted my projects to this beautiful city, and coincidentally I found the city dwellers, who have mostly been my characters of the film and also the authorities of the city incredibly supportive. People laughed on my beliefs, I struggled for budgets, but here I am today with all these 52 creations appreciated by the world.”
Shah has also created a special documentary on the life of Salt Workers from Kachchh, Gujarat – titled ‘Pinch of Salt’ which is acclaimed by international critics with 15 accolades.
