The real catalyst for the gargantuan industry, Dorabji Tata is the visionary who rose Tata Group to fame. Tata Group was started by his father, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, which comprised of three cotton mills and Taj Hotet, Bombay. But under Dorabji’s leadership, Tata rose to become India’s largest private sector steel company with three electric companies and one of India’s leading insurance company. He extensively assisted mineralogists of the country which led to findings that would have been otherwise neglected. And that’s not all; he was also the president of the Indian Olympics Association who financed the Indian contingent to the Paris Olympics in 1924.
For his uncountable contributions to the industrial development of India, we pay our respects to this great hero and dedicate our 245th edition of Ahmedabad Art Weekly to his legacy.
