Abstracts in Nature by Manisha Sharma

When a science teacher takes hold of the camera to shoot nature, it is little surprising that we get to see nature in its most abstract form! An abstract conversation takes place between mother nature and photographer Manisha Sharma, who is a science teacher at Udgam School, in this album Abstracts in Nature. The series captures floral subjects with unusual precision, quenching the lenswoman’s artistic needs as she turns the subjects in focus into dramatic artistic depictions. The striking photographs play with duality. The viewer sees focus and depth, light and shadow, brightness and sharpness, illusion and reality, all at the same time. Through these eight photographs, Sharma narrates a kind of poetry that has neither a beginning nor an end.

Ahmedabad-based Manisha Sharma is a Madhubani painter and photographer by passion. Sharma enrolled herself in Navgujarat Photography under the tutelage of senior lensman Ketan Modi in 2016. Since then, she has been practising various genres of photography, especially creative depictions of nature’s forms. As an artist, Sharma creates detailed Madhubani artworks and merchandise like mugs, posters and fridge magnets based on her creations.
