Spiritual renderings of artist-architect Trupti Dave at her solo show Enigma

“I may not have seen Shiva. But I have felt him. My abstracts are just renderings of my belief” expresses Bhavnagar born and Ahmedabad based architect-artist Trupti Dave, who opened her latest solo exhibition ‘Enigma‘ at Amdavad Ni Gufa with more than 57 paintings, on the evening of October 30, 2018.

Dave has learnt fine arts from Khodidas Parmar and Somalal Shah, who are well-respected art tutors of their time. She studied art at MS University in Vadodara, during the 80’s. The education and her own journey of life, her explorations in spirituality has moulded her aesthetics, resulting into circular forms and semi-real figuration of deities. The medium put to use in all her paintings is mostly mix media and acrylic on canvas, the large collection is an expression of her journey that began in the 1970s. The non-linear strokes, bold use of colour – these are testament of the freedom that she feels while painting. As Dave corroborates that for her art is a space where she goes out to explore her creativity.

The show was open for 6 days at the Amdavad ni Gufa, ending on November 4, 2018. Those who missed visiting the show can view her art in the picture story here.
