Happy Streets : The Happiest Mornings of Ahmedabad

The Happy Street initiative by Times of India is connecting people right on the streets, at an exclusive no honking zone. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Traffic Department ably supports the initiative and have also declared CG Road NO HONKING ZONE during the Happy Street Time. It is a great community initiative that transforms a Sunday morning into a festivity. People from varied age group can come up to sing, dance, exercise, draw, play and do whatever they feel doing happily. Within this fast paced life, Happy Street gives everybody an opportunity to connect with each other as a humble community. This is one of a kind initiative, and we at Creative Yatra feel that every city in India should have a Happy Street that is full of fun, full of people, without any distractions of vehicle and pollution.

The story has been captured by Jyotik Bhachech who is a doctor by profession and a photographer by passion. His photographs are moreover a narrative that explains an objective element of the subject. Being an Amdavadi, he is always inclined towards clicking unique aspects of the city and ‘Back to Basics’ is an album that reflects his love for the city. His motif of transforming the busy town into a harmonious hamlet is what took him to the city streets early in the morning.
