Flavours of Sattvik 2017 - The Wholesome Food Festival of Ahmedabad

With unheard delicacies like Prickly Pear ice-cream, Maharashtrian Thalipeeth and Potli Dhokli the traditional food festival is overwhelming visitors with its nutritious and unconventional recipes. With more than 100 stalls and 500 preparations Sattvik Food Festival 2017 will continue to woo the gastronomic souls of Amdavadis until December 25, 2017. The footfall is expected to elevate to 100,000 unlike last year’s 60,000. People from various corner of India every year mobilise to help grub enthusiasts experience palatable wholesome food. During the excursion, we met people, form IT field, farmers, profession f&b sellers, grain merchants, homemakers and human beings from varied backgrounds trying to serve the best of what they can prepare.

Dabhi Rasilal and her organic farmer father came from Chotila with all their crops to prepare and serve Baingan Bharta with Bajra Rotla and Indian butter, whereas students from Lokmitra Kar School who were the ice-cream sovereigns of the festival, served inventive Icy flavours such as sugar cane, coconut and Prickly Pear. Homemaker Jolly Tikam came to try her entrepreneurial skills and dish up her mother and grandmother recipes of Modak, Sol Kadhi, Puran Poli and Ghavan chutney and in the adjacent stall North Indian IT professional Nilesh Kanpura is serving oat cookies with sweet neem-millet chapatis accompanying with a curry inclusive of spinach, aloe vera, and carrot leaves with a pungent smoky flavour. Families from Surat serving Khichdo and Sindhi culinary maestros serving the authentic sweet of Majun were a common scenario during the walk.
