606 years ago Emperor Ahmed Shah Badshah initiated the construction of the heritage city of Ahmedabad. The exact date on which it all begun was February 26, 1411, and today on February 26, 2017, the city came together to celebrate the occasion. As per the legend, the founding stone of the city was laid at Manek Burj by Maneknathji, one of the 84 Gurus of the Nath Sampradaya. Its a tradition that Mayor of City along with descendent of Guru Manek Nath Gadi, along with thousands of residents gather to pay floral tributes to the Guru and hoist flag to express hope for lifelong peace and progress.
After 606 prosperous years, the city has evolved as one of the fastest growing cities in the world and at the same time, has managed to keep its medieval heritage alive. The Land of Gandhi is a foremost example of modern and medieval thriving together.
Let us all get together and feel proud to be an Amdavadi!
