Our inspiration for the 10th CAW is writer and editor for The New Yorker Magazine, St Clair McKelway. Born in the family of social reformers and journalists in Charlotte, McKelway began his journalistic career at the Washington Herald and later joined the New York World and New York Herald Tribune successively and was famously considered as amongst ‘the twelve best reporters in New York’ by Stanley Walker. McKelway served the New Yorker Magazine for 47 years and was even honoured with more than five bibliographies.
