The Palanpur Project : A Noble Start

Palanpur Project

We all have experienced tons of documentaries till date that describe climate change as a serious issue but still we are insensitive upon acting on it because it is not tangible and visible around us. But if we talk about dump/garbage that is visibly making our children sick and creating disease, why are we still not proactive about eradicating it? Dr. Amit Shah of Integra Wellness Centre from NC State, US recently took an initiative of cleaning the Palanpur Bus Depot of Gujarat. This humble act was supported by Hasmukh Modi, director at Vidyavihar, Palanpur and Vivek Sheth, an advisor at Environmentoclean. The cleanliness drive started early in the morning and was heartily supported by local residents of the town and citizens like Farman Saiyyad, Kamal Hassan and activists like Hemaben Patel from Shrishti and Mitesh Bhavsar from SKST, Ahmedabad. Dr. Amit Shah aims to bring about a noticeable change in the city, by October 2019, and end the project on 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma.

It was heartening to see young students of Vidyavihar joining in the cause. Even the functionaries of the Bus Depot could see the importance of this noble initiative and joined in to support the cleaning drive.

Palanpur Project

Even in corporate companies, it is believed that a clean desk leads to better productivity, then imagine our productivity hike if we start living and experiencing a clean environment around us 24×7. This heritage week let us all vow not to litter our neighbourhood and keep our environment illness free.

The team has committed to take up the challenge of a polycarbon free Palanpur and together with community support and strategic planning initiatives shall be undertaken to beautify the city. We also hope that similiar citizen driven initiatives are taken up all across the country and that we gift a clean nation to ourselves in 2019, the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of The Nation.

TeamCY shall be closely following this story.
