Saptak 2017 is coming up with 'Vaividhya'

Saptak Music Festival 2017

From January 1, 2017, to January 13, 2017, Saptak 2017 the annual classical music festival of India will be celebrating its 37th edition in Ahmedabad with the theme of ‘Vaividhya‘ (diverseness), which basically reflects diversity not only in music, dance, art but also in experimenting with instruments and its playing styles. Established classical artists like Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Zakhir Hussain, Pandit Birju Maharaj and various other music legends are going to be a part of this one of a kind extravaganza. It is delightful to see Ahmedabad’s Bharatnatyam exponent Mallika Sarabhai along with her son Revanta, on the list of performers.

To blend twist of flavors in this unique melodious event, there are three classical dance schools that will be participating during the festival. The 2017 edition also marks the 50 years of Pandit Omkarnath Thakur’s demise so this year the festival is also dedicated to this great soul. As part of the festival, a special DVD of Panditjis rare clippings shall also be launched.

As always the performances shall happen at Amrut Mody School of Management, Vastrapur. Every day the performances shall start at 8.30pm. The city awaits to host this one of a kind music festival.
