Rest in Peace Sir Syed Haider Raza

Syed Haider Raza alias SH Raza the legendary modern artist who hails from India has passed away today at the age of 94 due to old-age related ailments. The Painter who worked in France since 1950 has painted mainly abstracts in oil or acrylic, which are brilliantly replete with Indian colours and cosmology.

Among the highest recognized artists of India SH Raza has been awarded Padma Shri, Fellowship of the Lalit Kala Akademi, Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and the highest French civilian honour, the Commandeur de la Legion d’honneur (Legion of Honour) for his work. The artist was announced as the priciest modern artist in 2010 when his painting ‘Saurashtra’ was sold for Rs 16.43 crore.
