Japanese Origin Author Kazuo Ishiguro is now the Nobel Prize Laureate


The Japanese born writer Kazuo Ishiguro, has been honoured with a Noble Prize in Literature this year. The Britain based writer is the first formally trained creative writer, who has been awarded a dignified stratum of Noble.


Having nominated four times for The Man Booker Prize, Ishiguro was awarded one in 1989 for his novel The Remains of the Day. He has been named by Time amongst the list of The 50 Greatest British Writers Since 1945. His book An Artist of the Floating World was awarded the Whitbread Prize in 1986, and he was granted by the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture for his significant contribution in the field of literature and arts.


Critics have compared his historical and fantastical writing with famous British novelist William Golding and his last novel Never Let Me Go published in 2005 is also said to be as “one of the central novels of our age” according to The New Yorker because of its mix of realistic narrative and dystopian fantasy. The author competed with 350 proposals and will be receiving the prize money of 8 million SEK (as per 2014) along with the award on December 10thThe Nobel Day.
